Don Carlos pipes originated from Maestro Bruto Sordini's passion for classical music and especially for the opera. The pipe maker from Cagli gets his inspiration from music and also listens to it while he is working. The briar used for the pipes comes from Calabria and is dried for at least 2 years before it's processed. All Don Carlos pipes are free of putty and are divided into three categories of quality which are indicated by notes. Very exclusive pipes are fitted with a hand driven silver ring and stamped with three notes on the stem. The bore of the bowls is left natural so that it also shows the selected quality of the wood from the inside. Long years of independent practice as well as the commitment to the values of traditional pipe making are expressed in Don Carlos pipes.
