    Bare Bones

Very mixed feelings on this line of bones pipes. I have bought several of this series and I first want to say they are worth the money but they are not up to the quality of most 90.00 pipes. They are about 20% too small and the lack of enough briar plus a lack of finish means they can get pretty hot after their first smoke. They are ideal as a travel pipe due to their size and affordability. If this pipe were about 20% bigger I would give it a five star rating. Perhaps the best thing about the pipe is the lack of a finish-it allows the pipe to cool and color a bit like a meershaum but unfortunately these pipes started off with the idea of having a finish which means they have walls a bit too thin as a result of not being finished. I am currently working on three at home now using a bee propolis base with other agents to create a finish that will leave the pipe a bit cooler to hold when smoking. These Bones pipes are worth a try-they will not appeal to everyone but will to many. The bones pipes are better than your old drug store pipes of yesteryear but not to par to a five star rating.

    Better than Advertised

I got this to fill out a rotation for Latakia mixtures and give some of my other pipes a break. This little guy is quickly becoming one of my go-to pipes, though. The stummel is darkening nicely after about a dozen smokes, and the mouthpiece is wide and comfortable. Very very minimal flaws in the briar. The only issue I've had is that the draft hole is a little wide (not a negative, gives it a good open draw), but sometimes small bits of tobacco get caught in the draft hole. Easily resolved with quick intervention by a pipe cleaner, so it's done nothing to sour me on this steal of a pipe.
