The Arturo Fuente cigar company was started in 1912 by Cuban emigre Arturo Fuente at the age of 24. After leaving Cuba in the wake of the Spanish-American War, he relocated to Tampa and started producing cigars. Tragedy struck the Fuente family in 1924 when a fire burned down the building they had used for storage and production. Coupled with The Great Depression and then the Second World War, it wasn't until 1946 that production of Arturo Fuente cigars would resume. In 1958 ownership was transferred to Arturo's son Carlos Fuente, SR. who has overseen production since with his own son, Carlos JR. Fuente cigars have been critically acclaimed and sought after the world-round. Producing such fantastic cigars such as their Hemmingways, Chateau Fuente and of course, their Opus X.
